    From the earliest stages of prenatal care through birth and post-natal treatment, the Birthing Inn at St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus provides a comfortable, modern environment for parents and their babies.

    The premier birthing center in Southeastern Wisconsin, our obstetrical unit features private patient rooms with private bathrooms and showers. Rooms are large and comfortable for visiting family and friends and we provide sleeping arrangements for support persons. Everything from admission to discharge takes place in these fully equipped rooms. Neonatologists are on call 24 hours a day for infant care.

    The Birthing Inn is the hub for parent support groups and a full range of pregnancy, childbirth, breast-feeding and parent preparation classes. Visit the  health classes and education page of our website for more information.

    Froedtert South’s Obstetrician/Gynecologists have a broad base of training and skills in the areas of pregnancy, infertility, gynecology, urinary incontinence, menopause and gynecological surgery. This diversity contributes to the high quality of care they provide to every patient.

  • Lactation Consultant

    Lactation consultants are health care professionals with specialized education and clinical expertise in breastfeeding and lactation. The right consultant can be an invaluable asset to breastfeeding mothers, providing reassuring you when breastfeeding and lactation are going well, providing emotional and by providing information and support to help prevent and manage common concerns. Our consultant will help you with:

    • Prenatal counseling about the factors that may affect breastfeeding and lactation
    • Basic positioning and proper latching techniques
    • Information about practices that promote successful breastfeeding and lactation
    • Preventing and managing common concerns such as poor latch, inadequate milk transfer or supply, nipple or breast pain, and calming a fussy baby
    • Milk expression and storage for parents who must be separated from their babies
    • Returning to work and strategies for breastfeeding and lactation
    • Breastfeeding and lactation in challenging situations, such as feeding twins or triplets, a premature or sick infant, or infants in special medical situations.
